About the Role
A public charter school network in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about science education and enjoy bringing scientific concepts to life through inquiry, experimentation, and real-world applications. The ideal candidate believes all students can succeed in science and is committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
This position is open to both U.S.-based and international educators through the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned middle school science instruction
Teach core science content such as life science, physical science, and earth science (based on assignment)
Design engaging lessons that promote inquiry, experimentation, and scientific reasoning
Incorporate hands-on labs, demonstrations, and project-based learning experiences
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Foster a structured, inclusive, and academically focused classroom environment
Build strong relationships with students and families to support student success
Collaborate with grade-level and content teams on curriculum planning and instructional strategies
Participate in professional development, instructional coaching, and school-wide initiatives
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.)
Degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree
Experience
Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience preferred
Experience teaching middle school science strongly preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Strong content knowledge in middle school science
Ability to deliver engaging, inquiry-based, and hands-on instruction
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
Comfort using instructional technology, lab tools, and assessment platforms
Experience with data-driven instruction, project-based learning, or inquiry-based approaches preferred
Familiarity with restorative practices or social-emotional learning frameworks is a plus

Additional eligibility requirements include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or a related subject
Valid teaching qualifications from your home country
At least two years of full-time teaching experience
