About the Role

A prestigious private school in Gulf Stream, Florida is seeking a passionate and experienced Learning Specialist / Director of Learning Services for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping them reach their full academic potential. The successful candidate will oversee the school’s learning services program while also providing direct support to students through individualized and small-group interventions.

The Learning Specialist will collaborate closely with teachers, families, administrators, and outside professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support, accommodations, and strategies that foster academic success and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Learning Services program, supervising a team of learning specialists.

  • Provide direct intervention and academic support to students in both individual and small-group settings.

  • Identify students experiencing academic or learning challenges and assess their strengths and needs.

  • Develop and implement individual learning and accommodation plans with clear goals and strategies.

  • Partner with teachers to support differentiated instruction and ensure classroom accommodations are implemented effectively.

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, learning plans, and recommended supports.

  • Coordinate with the school counselor and outside professionals to support students’ academic and developmental needs.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, interventions, and assessments.

  • Support the school’s admissions team by reviewing student applications and providing recommendations when needed.

  • Secure standardized testing accommodations for qualifying students.

  • Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in learning support and educational research.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Learning Support, Reading, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:
Several years of successful teaching experience and 2–3 years working with students who have language-based learning differences.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of learning disabilities and psycho-educational evaluations.

  • Experience developing and implementing student accommodation plans.

  • Training in a multisensory literacy program such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or Lindamood-Bell.

  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and support differentiated instruction across subject areas.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Familiarity with assessment tools, assistive technology, and data-driven instruction.

Additional qualifications include:

  • A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field.

  • Teaching credentials in your home country for primary or secondary education.

  • At least two years of full-time teaching experience or equivalent qualifications.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Strong professional references and character.
