About the Role

A prestigious private school in Gulf Stream, Florida is seeking a passionate and experienced Elementary Learning Specialist / Director of Learning Services for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This role is ideal for an educator who is dedicated to supporting young learners with diverse learning needs and helping them develop the academic skills and confidence needed for long-term success. The successful candidate will oversee the school’s learning services program while also providing direct support to elementary students through individualized and small-group interventions.

The Learning Specialist will collaborate closely with teachers, families, administrators, and outside professionals to ensure students receive the support, accommodations, and strategies needed to thrive in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Learning Services program, supervising a team of learning specialists.

  • Provide direct academic intervention for elementary students through one-on-one and small-group instruction.

  • Identify students experiencing learning challenges and assess their strengths and areas for growth.

  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans and accommodations tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Partner with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student development, learning strategies, and progress.

  • Coordinate with the school counselor and outside specialists to support students with additional needs.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of student progress, assessments, and interventions.

  • Assist with screenings, evaluations, and testing accommodations where appropriate.

  • Participate in professional development and remain current with best practices in learning support and literacy instruction.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Learning Support, Reading, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:
Several years of successful teaching experience and 2–3 years working with students who have language-based learning differences.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of elementary literacy development and learning differences.

  • Experience developing and implementing student support plans and accommodations.

  • Training in a multisensory literacy program such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or Lindamood-Bell.

  • Knowledge of assessment tools and early identification of learning challenges.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and families.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Additional qualifications include:

  • A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.

  • Teaching credentials in your home country for primary or elementary education.

  • At least two years of full-time teaching experience or equivalent qualifications.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Strong professional references and character.
