About the Role
A public charter school network in Brooklyn is seeking a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is open to both U.S.-based and international educators through the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned music instruction for elementary students

Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical expression

Incorporate singing, movement, and instrumental activities into lessons

Foster creativity, confidence, and a love of music in students

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

Create a structured, inclusive, and joyful classroom environment

Organize and lead school performances, concerts, or showcases

Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives

Use assessment to monitor student progress and inform instruction

Participate in professional development and school community events
Requirements
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field
-
Degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree
Experience
-
Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience preferred
-
Experience teaching music at the elementary level strongly preferred
Skills & Qualifications
-
Strong knowledge of music theory and instructional practices
-
Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons
-
Strong classroom management and communication skills
-
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners

Experience leading group performances or school events preferred

Ability to play an instrument (piano preferred) is a plus

Comfort integrating technology into music instruction

A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in music, education, or a related field
