About the Role

A public charter school network in Brooklyn is seeking a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The school is known for its strong academic culture, commitment to educational equity, and focus on nurturing the whole child through both academic and enrichment programming.

This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about music education, enjoy inspiring creativity in young learners, and are committed to building an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where students can develop both musical skills and confidence.

This position is open to both U.S.-based and international educators through the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned music instruction for elementary students

  • Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical expression

  • Incorporate singing, movement, and instrumental activities into lessons

  • Foster creativity, confidence, and a love of music in students

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Create a structured, inclusive, and joyful classroom environment

  • Organize and lead school performances, concerts, or showcases

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives

  • Use assessment to monitor student progress and inform instruction

  • Participate in professional development and school community events


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, or a related field

  • Degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience preferred

  • Experience teaching music at the elementary level strongly preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of music theory and instructional practices

  • Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners

  • Experience leading group performances or school events preferred

  • Ability to play an instrument (piano preferred) is a plus

  • Comfort integrating technology into music instruction

Additional eligibility requirements include:

  • A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in music, education, or a related field

  • Valid teaching qualifications from your home country

  • At least two years of full-time teaching experience

  • English language proficiency

  • Strong professional references and professional standing
