A public charter school in North Carolina is seeking a motivated and skilled Middle School / High School Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. The school emphasizes rigorous academics, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications of science within a STEM-focused instructional model.

This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about science education, confident teaching across multiple grade levels, and eager to engage students through hands-on, experimental, and problem-based learning experiences.

The position is open to both U.S.-based and international teachers through the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction at the middle school and/or high school level

  • Teach science content such as life science, physical science, earth science, and/or biology, chemistry, or physics (based on assignment)

  • Design engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote scientific thinking and real-world application

  • Incorporate labs, experiments, and project-based learning into instruction

  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction

  • Differentiate instruction to support a range of learning needs and skill levels

  • Create a structured, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment

  • Collaborate with grade-level and interdisciplinary teams on curriculum planning

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with students, families, and colleagues

  • Participate in professional development, instructional coaching, and school initiatives

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.)

  • Degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience preferred

  • Experience teaching middle school and/or high school science

  • Experience with inquiry-based, standards-aligned, or lab-based instruction preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong content knowledge in assigned science discipline

  • Ability to deliver engaging, hands-on, and inquiry-driven lessons

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners

  • Comfort using instructional technology, lab tools, and assessment platforms
