About the Role
A public charter school in North Carolina is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Middle School / High School Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. The school is committed to inclusive practices, equity-driven instruction, and ensuring that all students receive the individualized supports they need to succeed academically and socially.
This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about special education, experienced in supporting diverse learning needs, and confident collaborating within inclusive classroom settings across middle and high school grade levels.
The position is open to both U.S.-based and international teachers through the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialized instruction aligned to students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs
Collaborate closely with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction accordingly
Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and required documentation
Implement inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed teaching practices
Support students in both general education and specialized instructional settings, as assigned
Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives

Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
Degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree
Experience
Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience preferred
Experience in special education required
Experience at the middle school and/or high school level preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of special education instructional strategies and IEP implementation
Ability to differentiate instruction and support a range of learning needs
Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in inclusive and co-teaching environments
Comfort using instructional and progress-monitoring technology

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for the ConnectUS J-1 Teacher Visa Program, including:
Valid teaching credentials from home country
Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience
English language proficiency
