About the Role
A school district in Mart, Texas is seeking a passionate and engaging Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys helping students explore history, geography, civics, and culture while developing critical thinking and discussion skills. The ideal candidate will create dynamic lessons that encourage students to better understand the past and connect it to the world around them.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging social studies lessons aligned with Texas state standards (TEKS).

Teach key concepts in history, geography, government, and culture while encouraging inquiry and critical thinking.

Use primary sources, discussions, and project-based learning to bring historical topics to life.

Create a positive and structured classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning.

Assess student progress and use data to guide instruction.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to strengthen curriculum and instructional practices.

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field.

Valid teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification in Texas.

Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of social studies content and curriculum.

Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

Passion for helping students understand history and civic responsibility.

Additional qualifications include:

A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related subject.

At least two years of full-time teaching experience or equivalent qualifications.

Proficiency in English.
