About the Role:
This innovative charter school in Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated Middle School Spanish Teacher to join their team for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to foster language acquisition and cultural appreciation in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their Spanish proficiency while deepening their understanding of Hispanic cultures.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement an engaging, standards-aligned Spanish curriculum that builds proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident using Spanish in real-world contexts.
Use immersive teaching strategies such as storytelling, music, role-playing, and project-based learning to enhance language acquisition.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including heritage speakers and beginners.
Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed.
Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language learning.
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Communicate regularly with families, providing updates on student progress and language development strategies.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (middle school preferred).
Skills:
Proficiency in Spanish and strong knowledge of second-language acquisition strategies.
Experience with communicative and immersion-based teaching methods.
Excellent classroom management and student engagement techniques.
Ability to differentiate instruction for students at varying proficiency levels.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.
Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Restorative Practices is a plus.
Passion for fostering global awareness and cultural appreciation in students.

Additional qualifications include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education, Spanish, or a related field.
Teaching certification in your home country.
