About the Role:
This innovative charter school in Brooklyn is seeking a passionate Middle School Dance Teacher to join their team for the 2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through movement, creativity, and expression in a dynamic and supportive environment that values the arts as a critical part of education.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an engaging dance curriculum that explores various dance styles, techniques, and cultural influences.
Foster a creative and inclusive environment where students feel confident expressing themselves through movement.
Teach foundational dance techniques while encouraging improvisation, choreography, and collaboration.
Organize and direct school performances, showcases, and community events to highlight student talent and achievement.
Differentiate instruction to support students of all skill levels, from beginners to more advanced dancers.
Integrate dance history and cultural perspectives into lessons to deepen students’ understanding of the art form.
Collaborate with colleagues to incorporate movement into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Maintain a safe and respectful studio environment, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and self-expression.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (middle school preferred).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of various dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and cultural dance forms.
Ability to inspire and motivate students while fostering confidence and creativity.
Excellent classroom management and student engagement techniques.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.
Experience organizing performances, choreography, and event planning.
Familiarity with arts integration and interdisciplinary teaching methods is a plus.
Passion for equity and inclusion in dance education.

Additional qualifications include:
A degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree in education, dance, or a related field.
Teaching certification in your home country.
