About the Role

A mission-driven charter school in Rochester, New York is seeking a passionate and engaging Science Teacher to join its team for the 2025–2026 school year. This position will support students in grades 7–12 and may include instruction in subjects such as Life Science, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, or General Science depending on school needs and candidate expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction for students in grades 7–12.

  • Develop lesson plans and laboratory activities that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning.

  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and academic confidence.

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and abilities.

  • Use assessment data to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning.

  • Incorporate educational technology, experiments, and project-based learning into daily instruction.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and achievement.

  • Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • Participate actively in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field required

  • Master’s degree preferred

Certification

  • Valid teaching certification preferred

  • Candidates eligible for certification may also be considered

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience preferred

  • Experience teaching middle school and/or high school science strongly preferred

Skills

  • Strong instructional and classroom management abilities

  • Ability to create engaging, inquiry-based science lessons

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and educational technology tools

  • Passion for STEM education and student development

  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
