Salary Range

$53,000–$73,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

A progressive independent school in Jersey City and Hoboken, New Jersey is seeking a passionate and experienced Middle School Learning Specialist to join its team for the 2026–2027 school year. This role will support students in grades 5–8 and offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, student-centered learning environment that values inclusion, curiosity, and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Provide push-in instructional support for students in grades 5–8 in reading, writing, executive functioning, literacy, and numeracy skills.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop individualized learning strategies and scaffolded instructional supports.
Provide short-term reteaching and targeted interventions to support student learning needs.
Maintain student academic support profiles and monitor progress over time.
Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, interventions, and support plans.
Partner with faculty and Child Study Team members to support students with learning challenges.
Support the coordination and analysis of standardized testing results and academic data.
Create a supportive, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment for diverse learners.
Participate actively in professional development, faculty collaboration, and school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Literacy, or a related field required
Master’s degree preferred

Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of teaching or learning support experience preferred
Experience supporting middle school students strongly preferred
Background in literacy intervention and executive functioning support highly desirable
