About the Role

A STEM-focused charter school in North Carolina is seeking a passionate and skilled High School Coding and/or Digital Media Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educator with a strong background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Digital Media to support students in developing real-world technical and career-ready skills in a hands-on, project-based learning environment.

The ideal candidate will be able to facilitate instruction across three Computer Science courses aligned to industry certifications and career pathways.

Courses Taught

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the following courses:

1. CompTIA A+ Core 1 V15 (Honors)

  • Prerequisites: None

  • Credit: 1

  • Focus: Foundational IT support skills including hardware, networking basics, troubleshooting, and basic cybersecurity concepts. Emphasizes hands-on skills for supporting operating systems and cloud-based environments.

2. CompTIA A+ Core 2 (Honors)

  • Prerequisites: CompTIA A+ Core 1 V15

  • Credit: 1

  • Focus: Operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. This course completes the pathway for entry-level IT support and help desk careers.

3. CompTIA Security+ (Honors)

  • Prerequisites: Recommended completion of CompTIA A+ Core 1 & Core 2

  • Credit: 1

  • Focus: Vendor-neutral cybersecurity foundations including threats, vulnerabilities, security architecture, operations, risk management, and identity/access management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in Computer Science, Coding, and Digital Media

  • Prepare students for industry-recognized IT and cybersecurity certifications

  • Develop lesson plans aligned to CompTIA course standards and career pathways

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Incorporate real-world applications, labs, and project-based learning

  • Monitor and assess student progress using data-driven instruction

  • Foster a structured, engaging, and career-focused classroom environment

  • Collaborate with faculty and contribute to school-wide STEM initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or related field preferred

  • Industry certifications (CompTIA A+, Security+, or equivalent) strongly preferred

  • Previous teaching or industry experience in IT, coding, or digital media preferred

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Passion for preparing students for technology careers
